St. Ann’s Church is built in 1906

In May 20th, 1906, St. Ann’s First Church (shown below) opened on Anderson Street. It was located next to where the current church stands today. St. Ann’s origin began 3 years earlier when the growing Italian population of Raritan decided that they wanted to separate from St. Bernard’s - and establish their own church. In 1903, the “Catholic Church of St. Ann” was incorporated. Initially they did not have their own building to meet, so they met at 74 West Somerset Street, an empty commercial building for the first three years. The original church from 1906 was replaced in 1933 with the current church we know today.
