The fire and rescue personnel who truly went above and beyond during Hurricane Sandy in October. At the height of the storm, as the fire department was being called back to the firehouse because of the sustained wind velocity, our firefighters encountered an active house fire. Disregarding their own personal safety they began knocking down the fire and saved the structure plus those located close to the fire.
