Borough of Raritan Council Agenda Meeting January 13, 2009 The following notice was read: NOTICE of this meeting has been made by advising the Somerset Messenger Gazette and The Courier News of the time, date and place of this meeting, posting a notice on the official bulletin board, filing a copy in the Borough Clerk’s office and including this statement in the minutes. Mayor Liptak called the meeting to order at 6:32 p.m. Upon call of the roll: Mayor Liptak Council President Laggini Councilman Licht Councilwoman Carra Councilwoman Wilson Councilman Marago - Absent Councilman Lamaestra Also present was: Daniel Jaxel, Borough Administrator Paul Rizzo, Borough Attorney Stan Schrek, Borough Engineer Pamela Huefner, Borough Clerk Amusement/Video Games Licenses Request for approval .was submitted for the following: Video/Gaming – DeCicco’s Tavern, DeLucia’s Piaaeria, Michael’s Inn, Someplace Else, Moose Club. All appropriate forms and fees were supplied by each of the above and Police inspections were completed and approved. Motion to be made in Regular Session. Fire Company PO’s (6) The Fire Department submitted six purchase orders for: To: Somerset County Office of Emergency Management for Channel Expansion Module, Antenna, Parts and Labor; in the amount of $1,986.81 To: Motorola Inc, Chester, NJ for extended warranties on 9 mobile radios and 18 portable radios, in the amount of $2,088.00 To: Motorola Inc, Chester, NJ for 27 assorted mobile radios with accessories in the amount of $88,785.15 To: Continental Fire and Safety, Inc., Trenton, NJ for vehicle repair parts and restocking of various items on fire trucks, in the amount of $1,492.20 To: Absolute Fire Protection co., Inc., South Plainfield, NJ for replenishment and replacement of various items in the amount of $3,509.11 To: Absolute Fire Protection Co., Inc., South Plainfield, NJ for minor repairs and adjustments of defects on vehicles in the amount of $2,855.00 Budget Workshop With Department Heads Council agreed to meet with Department Heads to discuss budgets on January 21, 2009 at 6:30 pm, Borough Clerk was advised to advertise this meeting. Police PO Chief Hess submitted a purchase order to GTBM, East Rutherford, NJ for yearly Info-Cop License in the amount of $1,616.67. Tower/Wrecker Licenses Request for approval .was submitted for the following: Tower/Wrecker – Value Towing, Rescue Wreckers, Dave’s Heavy Towing, Stewarts Towing, Somerset Hills Towing, Ideal Auto Body, Mike’s Towing and Recovery, Tom Delucas Towing. All appropriate forms and fees were supplied by each of the above and Police inspections were completed and approved. Motion to be made in Regular Session. Recreation PO Rich Bartolucci submitted a PO for the Recreation Department to Somerville Baseball Inc., for umpire fees in the amount of $1,520.00 Ordinance Amending Chapter 72 Paul Rizzo drafted this ordinance amending chapter 72, placing the burden upon the property owner to maintain sidewalks, excepting the handicap ramps. This amendment to be introduced at next meeting. Change Order 16 Anderson Street Project A change order was submitted for the 16 Anderson Street Project to Precision Builders in the amount of $10,081.72 which is to come from the State Historic Trust Grant. To be motioned in Regular Session. Solid Waste Advisory Committee Council agreed submit Dan Jaxel and Dan LaVerde’s names to be on the Sold Waste Advisory Committee. Documentation of Mileage Mayor Liptak had already handled this matter. Tree On Meehan Avenue Resident at this address is claiming that DPW damaged his sidewalk removing a tree trunk and wants reimbursement. More information to be gathered on this issue. Council agreed to continue the Somerset County Development 2009 Housing Rehabilitation. Council agreed to appoint Dan Jaxel and John Orecchio to the Community Development Committee. Next Thursday (1/22/09) at 10:00 am the Planning Board is meeting with **************************** *************************************************************** PO for Conference Room Refurbishment Dan Jaxel informed Council that the estimate from the County for the Conference room was $1,085.76. Council directed Dan to have Public Works do an estimate for this work. NJ Transit Mayor Liptak stated that she had received a phone call from Mayor Flannery offering support for anything that Raritan chooses to do with the NJ Transit issues. She also asked Council if they felt it would be necessary to get the Regional Center Partnership of Senator Bateman involved with this issue. Councilman Laggini stated that the residents need a number they can call to log complaints and noted that he requested that actual air testing be done. Motion was made by Councilman Marago and seconded by Councilwoman Wilson to move into Executive Session. Upon call of the roll motion was unanimously carried.
