The Green Planet Band Thursday, June 28th @ 6:30pm | |
To coincide with this year's summer reading theme: "Libraries Rock", Raritan Public Library is hosting a special outdoor concert with "The Green Planet Band". This local family band is comprised of 12-year-old Kylee Rapp (vocals and guitar), her 10-year-old twin siblings Tyler (drums) and Anna (bass) and their Mom Lisa on lead guitar. They will perform lots of recognizable classic hits like "Chain of Fools", "I'm a Believer" and "Locomotion" which will get you rockin' and rollin'. Open to all ages. Registration is required. The rise of country music legend Johnny Cash (Joaquin Phoenix) begins with his days as a boy growing up on the family farm, where he struggles under the scorn of his father (Robert Patrick). As the years pass, Cash ends up in Memphis, Tenn., with his wife, Vivian (Ginnifer Goodwin), and breaks into the music scene after finding his trademark sound. While on tour, Cash meets the love of his life, singer June Carter (Reese Witherspoon), but Cash's volatile lifestyle threatens to keep them apart. Think about the 1950’s and our minds drift back to a more nostalgic time of “Father Knows Best”, 45 RPM records, black & white televisions and slogans like “I Like Ike”. After the hardships of the War Years, women entertained more, ladies’ luncheons and cocktail parties became very popular, and men became masters of the grill. Join Judith Krall Russo, Food Historian, and learn what it’s like to entertain in a 1950’s style. Light BBQ refreshments will be served. Registration is required. Please call library to register. |

Adult Coding (Python) Workshop Tuesdays, July 10th, 17th, & 24th 6:00pm-8:00pm | |
Anesha Santhanam, founder of Likeable STEM, will be teaching an introductory 3 session workshop on Python coding for adults. Python is a popular text-based programming language that makes learning to code fun and interactive for beginners. Find out why coding combined with STEM has become an important job skill across industries. Participants are encouraged to bring their own Windows or Mac laptops. Registration is required and participants need to attend all 3 sessions. |
