Article above reads: Senior Barbara Withers reached the coveted 1000-point mark Saturday when she tallied 20 points as the Bridgewater-Raritan's East Girl's Basketball team trimmed Franklin Township 65-33. Withers entered the contest just six points shy of the barrier and tallied her 1000th point when she connected on a short jump shot with 7:35 left in the second quarter. Action was halted and the 5-10 blond was presented with the ball. She finished the contest with 6 field goals in 14 tries and was 8 for 9 from the foul line. Withers' shot East's first basket of the second quarter, gave the visitors a 16 - 9 lead and they continued to build the margin over Franklin 1-4. Nancy Northup aided the East cause with 19 points and Nancy Shoolbraid added 10. Pat Ellison led Franklin with 18 points.
