The Raritan Fire Department Needs Your Help
Since 1870
The Raritan Fire Department is an all-volunteer organization that provides fire protection to all of Raritan Borough. We’re not a paid department, but we’re certainly a professional department. Our 25 volunteer members respond to about 200 emergency calls each year, free of charge.

Should you have an emergency in your home, at work, at school, on the road, or anywhere else in Raritan, we’ll leave our jobs, our homes, and our families to come to your assistance. We are highly trained professionals who are willing to share our time and skills to help you.

We need your help in two ways:
we need your contribution to support our firehouse, and
we need you to volunteer to join us.

We need your contribution. Funds contributed to Relief Hose Company #2 are used to pay the bills at the North Thompson Street firehouse, including maintenance and repairs, utilities, operations, and improvements. We solicit contributions once each year through our annual Fund Drive that is going on now. While costs continue to go up, contributions have been going down, and the treasury of Relief Hose Company #2 continues to shrink. If these trends continue, the organization will be in real financial trouble. You can help to make things better by sending in your donation now.

We need you to volunteer to join us. It seems that volunteers are hard to come by these days, but your volunteer Fire Department is staffed completely by members of our community who have stepped forward and volunteered their time and efforts in the interest of public safety. You can do the same. Come and join us, and you’ll find out how good it feels to help your neighbors, and even complete strangers, when they really need you.

Call us at 908-707-8540, and we’ll tell you more about it
